How to manage cash agents and cash sales

Selling tickets at the venue for cash? Cash agents have you covered — here's how to set them up and keep the money accounted for.

What this guide covers

Let staff sell tickets for cash at physical locations/events. Each agent signs into the POS with a code, opens a cash drawer with a starting balance, and records sales — all visible to you in real time.

What you'll need

An event on sale, and trusted staff to act as agents.

Where to go

Organizer dashboard → Cash Agents (management) and Cash Sales (reporting). Agents themselves use the POS page.

Step by step

  1. Create a cash agent; the agent receives a unique code.
  2. If a code is compromised or forgotten, regenerate it (the old code stops working immediately).
  3. At the venue, the agent signs into the POS and opens a drawer with a declared opening balance (cash and optionally card float).
  4. The agent records cash sales against your event's tiers/addons.
  5. Mistaken sale? The agent (or you) can cancel a sale; at shift end the drawer is closed out.
  6. Review everything under Cash Sales — summary per event/agent.

And then?

Cash sales count toward event attendance and sales reporting, reconciled against drawer sessions (opening balance vs recorded sales).

Good to know (rules & limits)

  • One active drawer per agent per event — an agent can't open a second drawer for the same event.
  • Agent operations are rate-limited (5–60/min depending on action); heavy rapid-fire use can be throttled.
  • Compromised agent code = regenerate immediately; the agent then needs the new code.

If something goes wrong

  • "Already have an open drawer" — the agent must close the existing drawer for that event first.
  • Agent locked out — repeated failed sign-ins are throttled; wait a minute and retry with the correct code.
