How to run a livestream event
Going live? Configure your stream ahead of time and show day becomes mostly watching the viewer count.
What this guide covers
Run a virtual/hybrid event: configure the stream on an event, go live, monitor the audience, moderate chat/bans, and (if enabled) accept viewer contributions.
What you'll need
- Organizer access and ownership of the event.
- The platform admin controls whether organizer contributions (viewer tipping) are allowed.
- The event must have livestreaming enabled (Phase config on the platform).
Where to go
Organizer dashboard → your event (from Events) → its Streaming page.

Step by step
- Open the event's Streaming page and set the stream configuration.
- At showtime, Start the stream — viewers with valid tickets can join the watch page.
- Monitor metrics and viewers live; use the overlay feature as configured.
- Misbehaving viewer? Ban them (by session) — they're cut off and cannot rejoin (ban holds by email/IP).
- End the broadcast with Stop. Viewer sessions terminate.
And then?
Ticket holders join via their ticket; sessions heartbeat every ~30s and die without it. Chat runs per event; contributions (if admin-enabled) settle via the platform's payment callback flow.
Good to know (rules & limits)
- Contribution acceptance depends on a platform-admin toggle per organizer — check with admin if you don't see it.
- Bans are serious: enforced by email and IP. Reversal is a manual organizer/admin action.
If something goes wrong
- Viewers can't join — confirm the stream is started and the event is live; expired tickets can't join.
- Contribution option missing — admin hasn't enabled contributions for your account.
How accurate is this?
Verified from source: organizer stream endpoints (config/start/stop/metrics/overlay/viewers/ban), stream session guard rules, contribution controller, admin contribution toggle. Encoder/ingest setup details need validation.
